Amidst the grief and shock of the Daegu subway arson tragedy, Church of God members have shared the sorrow of mourning families and collected donations to express their condolences to the victims.
On February 21, 40 members of Church of God, World Mission Society, started voluntary activities together with other social groups. They delivered food and other necessities to the grieving families of fire victims and concerned persons. For this, all the 29 branch churches in Daegu area have been collecting money.

"Until all things are settled, we will run the volunteer's camp and 1,200 man-days will participate in voluntary activities for about one month," said the Pastor Kim Du-seok who's leading the volunteers.

The Whole Assembly of Church of God ever expressed their condolences to the victims and encouraged the branch churches in Daegu area to share God's true love with the neighbors in difficult situation. Following the will of the Whole Assembly, the branch churches visited the accident site on February 20 and decided to run the 24 hour volunteer's camp and to collect contributions.

Since February 21, volunteers have provided food and drinks in three shifts not only to bereaved families and condolers but also to concerned officials and reporters of each broadcasting station and newspaper. Every day they offer hot meals, fruits and cakes to people who are worn out from grief and no sleep.

On Saturday, February 22, one of the bereaved families expressed his thanks, "I can feel your love and true heart through every food," and one of broadcasting station reporters greeted the volunteers and took pictures of them, saying, "Is this the camp of Church of God famous for volunteer activities? I didn't know Church of God has branch churches even in Daegu city. I've well known your voluntary activities since the Busan Asian Games."

On Monday, February 24, in the early morning a woman volunteer of Church of God was giving steamed towels to the bereaved families who hardly washed up. She said she couldn't stay at home, seeing their griefs through T.V.

Meanwhile, the Whole Assembly decided to use the budget of one hundred million won to support the volunteer activities, apart from the Daegu branch churches' collecting donations, for it costs three million won a day to purchase materials for meals. And the remnant of the budget will be offered to the bereaved families.
